Our Founder — Dr. Jeff Leighton

Dr. Jeff Leighton is the Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Maine Natural Health. Jeff is a professional pharmacologist, applying biochemistry, pharmacology, molecular biology, and functional genomics to the design of products that improve health. Jeff has discovered and developed many drugs for the pharmaceutical industry, where he served as Principal Scientist or V.P. of Pharmacology. He has also founded and served as CEO, CSO or Board member of numerous biotechnology companies.

Jeff believes that the best medicine is preventative medicine. In recent years, he has been designing and developing all natural products at dose strengths that give a positive benefit to general wellness and also affect the initiation and progression of chronic diseases. He believes that scientific rigor should be applied to all natural products making specific health benefit claims. He leads in the application of Evidence Based Medicine to natural products and is conducting open label clinical trials to assess efficacy through the Natural Products Research Institute of New England.

Afton Stenger

Director of Operations — Afton Stenger

Afton Stenger is responsible for the day-to-day running of the critical departments of Maine Natural Health such as production, marketing and sales assistance, and distribution.

Prior to joining MNH, she owned and operated two Maine companies that produced perishable products that were shipped globally. These experiences required a high level of organization and sourcing that have served her well in implementing procedures and processes that help ensure smooth sailing at Maine Natural Health.

Although her formal training is in business and computer science, her classes in graphic design at the Maine College of Art reflect her true love which she uses in package design here at MNH.

Patricia Leighton

Director of Sales and Marketing — Patricia Leighton

Patricia completed her undergraduate studies at Boston University in 2000, with a major in Economics and a minor in Business Administration. She then moved to NYC and held various positions within the Fashion Industry. In 2006, she left her position as National Sales Manager of Ben Sherman and moved to Switzerland to combine her passions (sports & nutrition) with her career while enjoying the Alps on foot, bike or board. She graduated from Business School Lausanne (MBA) in 2008. Her management thesis focused on the development and expansion of Maine Natural Health. While completing her MBA, and after, she consulted for various sporting goods companies gaining international experience. In 2009, she returned to the US and moved to Los Angeles. This transition led to her current position at Maine Natural Health, where she has global responsibility for all distribution channels and is responsible for launching the Sports / Fitness division StrongerFasterHealthier.

Paula Grafton

Production and Shipping – Paula Grafton

Before working for Maine Natural Health, Paula co-owned and ran Blue Water Seafood, Inc. She ran every aspect of the business from bookkeeping to production and shipping. At Maine Natural Health, Paula is responsible for all aspects of production from producing the product to shipping it to the customer.

Rachel Albury

Information Technologies, Customer Service – Rachel Albury

Rachel has a BS in Business Administration from the University of Maine Business School and is enrolled in the MBA program at the same college. Rachel has worked in the development office of a non-profit art museum, managed a deli at a natural food cooperative and has done sales and marketing internships at a large credit card company and a mid-sized manufacturer. At Maine Natural Health Rachel is responsible for the company website and administering the clinical trial division; Natural Products Research Institute of New England. She also assists in the day-to-day office administration of the company.
